Our Story

The Ghost BBQ & Spirits is located adjacently to the legendary Boulder Theater in the former George’s Restaurant space. It is rumored that George Paper resides in the theater. The ghostly presence, along with owner Bob Sargent’s love of the ghost pepper (one of the hottest peppers in the world) made naming The Ghost very easy.

The Ghost BBQ & Spirits is a division of Savory Cuisines Catering. Savory Cuisines specializes in made-from-scratch cuisine catered to Boulder and Denver area events, such as weddings, corporate gatherings and “farm to table” dinners.

Bob Sargent started Savory Cuisines Catering twelve years ago with dreams of becoming a personal chef. People welcomed the chance to hire a caterer that served restaurant-quality food made entirely from scratch. Savory Cuisines took off and Bob became a full-time caterer. Once Savory Cuisines became a local success, Bob decided to open a restaurant as well. He opened The Ghost in November 2015, bringing authentic Texas BBQ – with a “Boulder twist” (panini, salads, vegetarian BBQ) to the Pearl Street Mall. Plus, this way, Bob gets to play with fire every day.

The Ghost BBQ & Spirits also serves scratch-made sides, a variety of house-made BBQ sauces, beer, wine and hand-crafted cocktails.
